What’s inside the worksheet

Five sections, five scores. Each section takes about four minutes. Each section reveals a different reason AI engines might be ignoring your brand.

  1. Section 01 — Entity Footprint. Can the models recognize you at all? Five checks on name consistency, third-party descriptions, schema sameAs, Wikipedia/Wikidata presence, and how ChatGPT actually describes you when prompted.
  2. Section 02 — Off-Site Presence. Are you where the engines actually retrieve from? Reddit is ChatGPT’s #1 cited domain. If your category’s conversations happen in threads you’ve never touched, you’re invisible by default.
  3. Section 03 — Extractability. Can a model lift a clean answer from your page? The classic SEO page — hundreds of words of warm-up before the answer — is nearly impossible for an AI engine to quote.
  4. Section 04 — Structured Signals & Schema. Are you machine-legible? Article schema, Person schema, FAQPage, llms.txt, and the difference between schema markup that helps and schema markup engines penalize.
  5. Section 05 — Technical Access & Freshness. Can engines reach you at all? Several brands accidentally block GPTBot, Perplexity, and Google-Extended via robots.txt or Cloudflare defaults — and never notice.

Plus: the diagnosis

After you tally your score (out of 25), the worksheet matches you to one of four bands — Cited and compounding, Visible but leaking, Recognized rarely retrieved, or Invisible by default. Each band comes with a sequencing recommendation: what to fix first, what to leave alone for now, and how long it takes to move to the next band.

The counterintuitive part: your weakest section is your priority, not your strongest. AI visibility is a chain — a brilliant, extractable page that an AI crawler is blocked from reaching scores zero in practice. Fix the foundation, then build on top.

Who this is for

This worksheet is built for:

  • Founders whose brands rank on Google but get little or no mention in AI search.
  • Marketing leaders who need a fast, structured way to audit AI visibility before scoping a fix.
  • SEO professionals expanding into GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).
  • Consultants who want a reusable client diagnostic for the first 30 minutes of an engagement.

Built from the audit I run for clients

This isn’t a marketing exercise. It’s the same five-section audit I work through in the first call of an AI-visibility engagement. I’ve used variants of it on a global skincare leader’s UAE/KSA programmes, a national tourism authority’s worldwide awareness work, and dozens of smaller founders and ecommerce brands. The 25 checkpoints in this PDF are the ones that consistently predict whether a brand will get cited by AI engines or stay invisible.

The work behind it is documented in depth in the writing on aknigam.com/insights:

Frequently asked questions

What is the AI Visibility Audit Worksheet?

A free 25-point self-assessment PDF that diagnoses why ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews aren’t citing your brand. It takes 20 minutes, scores you across 5 sections (entity footprint, off-site presence, extractability, structured signals, technical access), and tells you which failure mode to fix first.

Who is this worksheet for?

Founders, marketing leaders, and consultants whose brands rank on Google but get little or no mention in AI search engines. It’s also useful for SEO professionals expanding into GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).

Is it really free?

Yes. The PDF is free to download, free to share with your team, and free to forward to clients. The only cost is your email — used to send you the file plus occasional notes on AI visibility. Unsubscribe any time.

How long does the audit take?

About 20 minutes. The five sections are 4 minutes each. You need your website open in one tab, ChatGPT and Perplexity in another, and an honest eye.

What do I do after I score myself?

Find your weakest section — that’s your priority. The worksheet includes a score-band diagnosis with sequencing guidance for each. If you want a second pair of eyes, book a 30-minute strategy call linked at the end of the PDF.

What do you do with my email?

I send you the PDF and occasionally (maybe 1-2 times a month) a short note on something new in AI visibility — a tactic, a teardown, or a tool. You can unsubscribe in one click. Your email is never sold, traded, or shared. See the privacy policy for the full version.

Want a second pair of eyes on your scores?

After you’ve worked through the 25 checkpoints, you’ll know exactly which section is weakest. If you want help turning that diagnosis into a sequenced 90-day plan — entity work, off-site seeding, page restructuring, schema graph, measurement — that’s the engagement I run with founders and marketing leaders globally.
